INTRO

When Gene and Julie Gates wed in the middle of Grand Central Terminal, The New York Times covered the story. When Oprah Winfrey heard about Gene & Julie, she invited them as guests on her show. Gene & Julie hosted an award-winning American radio show which aired in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Atlanta, Dallas, Albuquerque and Raleigh. In 2015 the National Association of Broadcasters recognized Gene & Julie as one of the best shows in America with a Marconi Award.

A unique twist to the show is Gene & Julie are married. Listeners get a behind-the-scenes peek at a real marriage, and they love to laugh at how relationships can be painfully embarrassing. Like the time Gene secretly recorded Julie in her sleep…

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

In addition to having fun on the air, Gene & Julie love rolling up their sleeves and getting involved in the community. They have a soft spot in their hearts for schools and spend many afternoons reading to kids and volunteering as Room Parent at their child’s school. They also love jumping in to help raise money for children’s hospitals or other community needs… including getting winter coats for kids:

While on the air Gene & Julie coordinate grassroots efforts to help others including holding a furniture drive to help a displaced Hurricane Katrina evacuee, creating red “Pray for Japan” bracelets to assist with tsunami relief efforts and spearheading a fundraiser for Aurora, Colorado movie theater shooting victims.

Gene & Julie are passionate about helping when there is a need globally or in their community. They gathered furniture for a displaced Hurricane Katrina evacuee, helped raise money for Children's Medical Center with a radiothon, sold red "Pray for Japan" bracelets to raise money for tsunami relief efforts and held a fundraiser with a survivor of the Aurora, Colorado movie theater shootings.

Gene & Julie’s enthusiastic listeners gathered furniture for a displaced Hurricane Katrina evacuee, raised money for Children’s Medical Center Dallas, printed and sold red “Pray for Japan” bracelets to raise money for tsunami relief efforts and held a fundraiser with a survivor of the Aurora, Colorado movie theater shootings to offset the costs of counseling and emotional assistance for those impacted.

In addition to doing a morning radio show, Gene & Julie help other romantic couples who work together to successfully navigate the intersection of love and business. Additionally, they have penned a relationship column for JEZEBEL magazine, appeared as Relationship Experts on “HuffPost Live” and contribute cooking and relationship segments to local television stations.  They owned a restaurant and LOVE to hit the dining scene so there is a lot of food, dining and then naturally dieting talked about on the show (Gene is the one who cooks, but Julie gladly does the dishes).
