POINT OF VIEW
The Gene & Julie Show is funny, real, contemporary and smart. The fact that the hosts are married to each other brings a lot of comedy to the show. Listeners laugh at how marriage can be painfully embarrassing, especially when one’s spouse is airing dirty laundry on the radio. Like the time Gene secretly recorded Julie in her sleep…
The Gene & Julie Show is real, positive, funny and inclusive. It is about relationships, pop culture, compelling celebrity interviews and fun listener interaction. One of the most popular features is the Relationship Report Card when Gene & Julie give each other a letter grade based on how they did as spouses for the week.

AWARDS AND RECOGNITION
The Gene & Julie Show has been recognized with two Marconi Award nominations from the National Association of Broadcasters. For five consecutive years, industry trade magazine Radio & Records nominated The Gene & Julie Show as “Best Show” in America. At the Achievement in Radio Awards, Gene & Julie were awarded “Best Show.” Grand Luxe magazine deemed Gene & Julie a “Power Couple” and Jezebel Magazine called them “Movers & Shakers: People Who Make the City.”
Gene & Julie are excellent listeners so they don’t miss details that can lead to gold during an interview. Their warmth puts guests at ease which makes them open up and feel like they’re chatting with friends. During one segment country music cutie Kellie Pickler admitted she had breast augmentation, and the tabloids were falling all over themselves in response. Keep in mind, Gene & Julie don’t conduct ”gotcha” interviews, they simply want to know something new so there is something of interest to their audience other than just hearing a canned pitch about the star’s latest book or movie deal. Big name guests have ranged from Presidents Barack Obama, Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter to Oscar winners Anthony Hopkins, Nicole Kidman and Julie Andrews to recording artists Elton John, Toby Keith and P!nk. The Gene & Julie Show is also a show where the mayor and governor know there’s an open invitation.
In addition to having fun on the air, Gene & Julie care deeply about their community. They helped raise over $4 million for Children’s Medical Center Dallas, won two Wishmaker Awards from the Make-A-Wish Foundation and love getting behind grass roots efforts to make a difference. They are not afraid to tackle serious issues when the community is moved by a major event. As a result of listening to their audience’s desire to do something, Gene & Julie have coordinated a variety of grassroots efforts to make a difference. Some of these events include a furniture drive to help a displaced Hurricane Katrina evacuee start her life over in Texas, creating red “Pray for Japan” bracelets to assist with tsunami relief efforts and spearheading a fundraiser for Aurora, Colorado movie theater shooting victims. Gene & Julie will never take credit for the results because they know the recognition should go to their amazing listeners– and their audience has always risen to the challenge when there was a need.
Gene & Julie are known as the guys in the white hats in their community… saving the day and sticking up for the underdog, like 11-year-old girl Harper Gruzins who was relentlessly cyber-bullied after singing the national anthem at a local sporting event and deemed “The Worst National Anthem Ever.”
Gene & Julie also enjoy lending their voices to great causes. They emcee charity fundraisers for schools and great organizations like the American Heart Association. They also emcee large community events like the Lenox Square Fourth of July Fireworks display in Atlanta and the Dallas Children’s Medical Center Christmas Parade.
